Want to win this week’s Mega Millions jackpot?

With the Mega Millions jackpot climbing higher after a no-cigar drawing Tuesday night, Friday’s prize now stands at $530 million, making it the seventh-largest jackpot in the game’s history.Get more news about 彩票包网开版,you can vist loto98.com

So while you do that little mojo dance and contemplate which half-dozen numbers you think will take you to a Mega victory, here are some tips from those who have gone before you on what to avoid when picking your six.

The quick pick is not your friend

Back in 2013, legendary lottery king Richard Lustig spoke with CBS about what to do and not do when you’re selecting your numbers for a drawing. And while the lottery is, at the end of the day, a game of chance — and very low odds — one of Lustig’s key bits of advice is this: Don’t use numbers picked at random by the computer by choosing the ”quick-pick” ticket option. Instead, he says, pick them yourself — and pick them carefully.
It doesn’t matter how you pick your numbers, once you pick your set of numbers, research them to know if it’s a good set of numbers and stick with them,” he said. “The lazy way out is to buy quick-picks. The computer picks out the numbers. Don’t play quick-picks. Quick-picks are the worst thing you can do, you are playing with the worst odds.”

Have a set of favorite numbers? Stick with them!

Many people use their same six numbers over and over again, even if they keep losing. Lustig recommended that after you’ve chosen your numbers, stick with them over time, because “even if you lose the next time your chances of winning with those numbers go up.”

It’s OK to be superstitious

many people believe some numbers are just bad news — most commonly 13 and 17.In Italy, 17 is often considered an unlucky number,” according to lotto enthusiasts. “This is because when written out in Roman numerals (XVII) it can create an anagram VIXI which translates to ‘I am dead’ or ‘My life is over’ in Latin.”

All the odds (or evens) aren’t in your favor

Do you prefer odd numbers? Maybe all evens feels lucky? You might want to rethink that strategy. According to a 2017 report in the New York Daily News, you’re better off with some of both. Gail Howard, author of the “Lottery Master Guide,” told the newspaper that a mix is more likely to pay off. “‘It’s very seldom that you get all one or the other,’ Howard says. If you’re playing a pick-five sort of game, go with three odd numbers and two even numbers, or vice versa. ‘Then you have a pretty good spread,’ Howard says.”
